Dorota Miśkiewicz ""
CD/DVD Concert Album
PREMIERE Oct 28th 2016, Universal Music Poland

PIANO.PL is an audio/video recording of a unique concert which took place in Warsaw on May 16th, 2016 in Roma Musical Theatre.

PIANO.PL is a tribute to the Polish pianism. Dorota Miskiewicz points out that piano is the Polish speciality and, among many excellent musicians, it is the pianists who have the lead. As jazz is the genre closest to Dorota's heart she emphasises, above all, the achievements of Polish jazz pianists who spectacularly follow the path once marked out by world renowned musician Krzysztof Komeda as well as Fryderyk Chopin, who was not only a great composer but also ... an improviser.

Dorota Miskiewicz offers an album with low-key duos preformed with remarkable pianists of different generations. They are the pianists who have been creating the history of Polish jazz (Wlodzimierz Nahorny, Andrzej Jagodzinski among others), the younger artists (Leszek Mozdzer, Marcin Wasilewski among others) together with the representatives of the youngest generation (Dominik Wania, Piotr Orzechowski "Pianohooligan).

In the circle of over a dozen of great personalities of Polish music also appeared Grzegorz Turnau, in the role of a pianist. Some duos were accompanied by an oustanding Atom String Quartet.

The famous songs that went down to history of Polish music have been chosen to be played in the concert as well as recorded on the album and the choice was dictated by Dorota's personal likes, her subjective sensitivity to music and lyrics. The decisions about the arrangement remained in each of the pianists' hands. Some arrangements are surprising and show a new face of more or less known songs, others seek for simplicity and are not much different from their originals. Both kinds amaze !

The album came out in the CD and CD+DVD format.

The project came into existence thanks to co-operation of Universal Music Poland, Oficyna Artystyczna 13 Kotow, Grupa Gorazdze, TVP 2, and Narodowy Instytut Audiowizualny (The National Audiovisual Institute)
